Kris Holm 29" Mountain Unicycle

Usually ships in 24 hours

Product Description

The KH29 is a top quality unicycle designed for cross-country muni and hybrid road/offroad riding. Combined with a stable 47 mm wide KH rim, the 29 x 3.25 Duro Krux tire (not as pictured) rolls easily over bumps and corners smoothly. An abundant use of one-piece forged components ensures high strength and durability. Recommended for cross-country muni riders and anyone wanting a versatile setup for both trails and rides around town.

Kris does recommend using the Kris Holm T-bar Touring/Muni Handle System for more comfort and control with the flatter style saddle that comes with the Kris Holm Unicycles.

  1. Back in the saddle 5 Star Review

Really Love this unicycle. The 29er is great for cruising around. Very well put together. Around 30 yrs ago I gave my regular size unicycle to someone I was helping to train to go to clown college. I still have my giraffe uni and would break it out from time to time, but always wanted to replace my regular size one. Now that I have more time I started doing some research and decided on the Kris Holm 29. Could not be happier. Looking forward to trying a trail a few miles from the house. For now, cruise to the beach to check on conditions, and around the neighboorhood.
    Great Uni.

  2. Ramblings about the 2015 KH29r 5 Star Review

The Kris Holm unicycle is top notch but misses the mark in my opinion in one area, the saddle. I totally understand where he is going with the saddle design. The only thing is that it is really meant IMHO to be used with handlebars which his documentation leans towards. Without them, your weight gets focused on the narrow center section (which partially is missing cushion due to the adjustment screw is on the top at that spot). Riding without handlebars I liken to playing baseball without a glove. You can go a few innings but not more without pain. If the rider has handlebars the weight is shifted towards the rear of the seat where there is plenty of padding and the saddle works flawlessly. IMHO handlebars should come with every unicycle that uses a KH Fusion Zero saddle even if it is a cheap basic set. This is why I gave less than 5 stars in some categories.

Again, it is totally top notch. Very sturdy yet very light. If you buy it, which there is no reason not to, just get some handlebars with that order.

  3. Really fun; Great for commutes 5 Star Review

This uni may be expensive, but if you have the funds, buy this uni. I got this as my second uni all the way up from the orange Torker LX 20 inch and am loving it. I thought about getting a Nimbus Road Uni, but also wanted the option of off roading it and decided to splurge and get the Kris Holm.

When I first looked at this uni and saw it had a knobby tire, I was afraid it would feel bumpy on roads, but when you ride, the worst of it is a light humming. It is even more comfortable than the road tire on my 20 inch. It feels like a road tire on the road, just maybe a little bit wider, which is not a bad thing.

If you are under 6' prepare to cut the seat post a bit shorter. I am 5' 10" but the lowest uncut height is ridable, but feels like I am standing.

I use the kh 29er to get around UCLA and anybody who has been here knows all about the hills. UCLA is a hilly campus, but the brake allows me to go down the hills without wearing myself out and looking stupid trying to slow myself down. The brake gets some getting used to, but makes stopping and downhills a cinch. Uphill is actually not as much of a problem as I expected it to be. My thighs get a bit of a workout, but 20% slopes are definitely doable.

I have yet to use it for Muni, so I can't be a good source for if it is good or not, but being so lightweight, this uni can definitely hop and turn without too much effort.

  4. I love this darn thing! 5 Star Review

I bought this uni for road riding. I have always loved my 24" Kris Holm for riding trails off road and feel very comfortable on it. I bought a 36 inch UDC titan, which was a great uni, and a tremendous value, but I guess it was just to big for me. I was able to ride it but I never felt 100% comfortable on it.

I bought a 29" KH and have never looked back for road riding, it is just right for me. It is really just like riding a slightly larger 24". Not as fast as the 36, but much more confidence inspiring for me and fast enough with shorter cranks.

Is the KH big bucks, yes no doubt but I love the feel and handing of this uni.

I am 53 years old, living on the East Coast and have been riding for 3 years. I would like to add that I am always impressed with UDC's customer service and support.
