I'm an adult and I'm shopping for my first unicycle. What size wheel should I buy?
If you intend to perform on your unicycle (while juggling, for example), we suggest a 20-inch wheel. It's the preferred size for freestylers who perform at the national unicycle convention.
If you enjoy distance riding, we suggest a 26-inch wheel. Large wheels require fewer revolutions when riding distance (meaning less work).
If you're likely to perform on your unicycle and ride distance, we suggest a 24-inch wheel. It's small enough for performers, yet large enough to cover moderate distances.
How do I know what length seat post (in mm) I should get if I am a first time rider?
A good rule of thumb:
- If under 60 inches, order a 200-mm seat post
- If between 61 and 70 inches, or a 300-mm seat post
- If 71 inches or above, order a 400-mm seat post
Some Unicycles are available with different crank arm lengths. How do I determine which crank arm length is best for me?
Short crank arms (125-mm or 5-inch, for example) are for flat ground; long crank arms 170-mm or 6.5-inch, for example) are for steep terrain. If you have a mixture of flat and steep terrain, size your cranks somewhere in between, such as 150-mm.
What is the sizing information for the BoneShieldz combo pack?
Boneshieldz are children sizes. Sizing will match up with just about any children sized gloves at Wal-Mart.
I am thirteen years of age and would really like to buy a unicycle what size bike do you suggest I get? I am about 4''10.
Please give us a call. We'll need to know your inseam length (with shoes on).
for distance riding up and down hills,i am male 6ft tall, what is a good size wheel, tire?,i been riding for 20yrs
Really, anywhere between a 24 and a 29. If you're doing a lot of offroad hill riding the Nimbus 24 or 26 Muni would be ideal. Also the Kris Holm and Nimbus 29-inch cycles are great for offroad and Muni style riding.
What height do you recommend that I set the seat on my 24
It really depends on your inseam length, and the amount of time you've been riding. Generally as a first time or new rider you'll want to extend the seatpost as much as possible, giving just enough room for your legs to remain slightly bent on the downstroke. Once you've mastered riding your uni, it's then possible to lower the seatpost, or even ride without one!!
how big of a weel shold I get if I am 5 feet 7inches
It all depends on what your inseam length is. We have recently updated the website to include minimum inseam requirements for each cycle. We have also included the different post size options available for the cycle along with the inseam required for each post on the cycle as well. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call!
I rode a lot as a child and want to get back into it for the exercise, but have gained a significant amount of weight, so what is the recommendation for an experienced rider of approximately 300 pounds?
Our only recommendation would be the ISIS splined cycles. You can find them under our Cruiser 24 Section, Rough Terrain Section, Trials, and Touring Section.
