Josh and Amy from UDC USA and Roger from UDC UK visited with George from UDC in Seoul, Korea the beginning of March. The Unicycle.com Korean company is growing and developing dramatically. Their sales of unicycles have doubled over the last 2 years. George took us for a Muni ride at a 500 year old mountain fort, a 5 mile ride with many hills and LOTS of steps. We asked George if he was trying to kill us! The riding wasn't too technical but included a lot of climbing to get to the higher sections. The mountain is a major tourist attaction and with the beautiful weather, it was very busy with many Korean hikers of all ages. Korea is a very fit country and a great thing to see. After the ride we all shared a korean style meal including our favorite… Korean pizza!
The next day, George took us to another tourist attraction called Seoul Tower. It was a 36er ride to the top of the mountian. He only told us it was a short 2km ride. He did not tell us it was straight up! But at the top we had such a great view of the city and the surrounding mountains. We also stopped for some tea and a rest before heading back down. Notice the wall of locks and written messages. It is a tradition that in Seoul, when a couple has been dating for 100 days, they climb the mountain and put a lock with a note onto this fence! We had a great time and look forward to seeing George and his wonderful family and friends again!
The Korean riders have a very active forum (in Korean!) and have posted up lots of images of our ride there.
