Unicycle.com is going to be following Sep Shanks (Owner of UnicycleAdventures.com based in Guatemala), on his Grand Adventure of riding a unicycle on all Seven Continents! Sep will be sending his blog posts to us via email and we will be sharing them with you. Sep has also been challenged to ride with someone on his shoulders in each country he visits. Below is a photo of Sep in Vancouver with someone on his shoulders!
This is his first blog:
Just a quick note on myself for those of you that don't know me. I am Sep Shanks,48 years old and through the help of UDC and several other unicycle enthusiasts, I have a unicycling problem. I am addicted! My preference is to ride downhill and as difficult as possible in order to improve. Kind of stubborn, with a desire to accomplish what is in front of me, or sometimes behind.
A month or so ago I had this idea to ride on all seven continents consecutively so here I go! I spent August riding in the Kamloops area of central British Columbia, Canada. Sun Peaks resort has some downhill trails that seem to be sculptured for those of us on one wheel. My son Bret and I rode there together which was great.
September started with a huge success in Vancouver BC. They called it California Muni Weekend! I know, I had trouble with this setup too! It was good to see all the regular faces and very many new ones for me.While I was there we rode the famous North Shore system on Mt. Fromme and Mt. Seymour.
I am now heading to Sweden and will be there for about two weeks. As always I will be looking to ride so if you or anyone you know wants to go in the Stockholm area just let me know firstname.lastname@example.org I would be more than happy. I am fine for a road or cross country ride too however, I only have my 24 with me. I arrive on Friday the 11th of September.
I missed my plane in Toronto and I think there is enough time to assemble and ride here today now that all the new arrangements have been made.
Until next time,,
Stay safe, and have fun!
